Home pest photo and enquiry checklist

What to photograph and tell KleanSG before a home pest visit in Singapore, for cockroaches, ants, termites, rodents, mosquitoes and flies.

Pest control · 5 min read · Updated 15 October 2026

A few safe photos and a short description help KleanSG understand a home pest problem before the appointment. You do not need to identify the pest yourself, and you never need to take a risk to get a photo. We can continue the enquiry without one.

Send your full address as text, the property type, the affected area, when the activity happens and any photos or short video you can take safely. A technician verifies the signs and site conditions on site before confirming the scope.

Take photos only when it is safe

  • Do not enter an unsafe space, climb, move heavy fittings, reach into a concealed area or approach an active pest.
  • If a photo is unsafe or difficult, describe what you saw and where.
  • Keep children and pets away from affected areas.
  • Do not touch a live or dead rodent, its droppings or an unfamiliar trap.
  • If you suspect termites, leave the signs alone: do not spray, scrape, break or remove them before assessment.
  • If timber, a fitting or part of the property seems unstable, keep people away and get advice from a qualified building professional. Pest treatment does not assess, certify or repair structural damage.

What to put in your first message

  • Your full service address, typed as text rather than shown in a photo.
  • Property type: HDB flat, condominium, apartment, landed home, rental home or pre-move-in property.
  • The affected room, outdoor area or shared area, and whether more than one area is affected.
  • What you saw, heard or found. It is fine to say you are unsure of the pest.
  • When it was first noticed, the usual time of activity and how often it happens.
  • A close-up and a wider photo, or a short video, only if these can be taken safely.
  • Whether children, pets, aquariums, food areas or access restrictions need to be considered.
  • Any previous treatment in the area, if known, and your preferred appointment timing. Appointments depend on technician availability.

Do not send NRIC details, bank information, passwords, private documents or photos of people who do not need to appear.

Three useful views

Where it is safe, send:

  • a close-up of the pest or sign
  • the trail, entry point or place where the activity disappears
  • a wider view of the surrounding room or outdoor area

Keep unrelated people, unit numbers, documents and screens out of frame where practical. A short, steady video can show movement. Photos support the first review but may not confirm the species, source, extent or treatment needed.

What to show for each pest

Cockroaches

  • The cockroach or sign, plus the surrounding area.
  • Useful spots: cabinet edges, under the sink, drainage points, gaps beside appliances and food storage.
  • Tell us whether you see them by day or night, whether several rooms are affected, and whether you have seen droppings, egg cases or repeated activity around a gap.
  • Do not reach behind appliances.

See cockroach control.

Ants

  • A close-up where possible, the full trail and a wider view of where ants enter, leave or disappear.
  • When the trail is most active, whether food or moisture is nearby, and whether it is indoors or outdoors.
  • You do not need to identify the species.

See ant control.

Possible termites

  • Photograph signs without disturbing them: mud-like tubes or tracks, discarded wings, pellet-like material, visible timber damage and the surrounding area.
  • When the signs appeared and whether you have seen similar signs elsewhere.
  • Photos cannot establish the termite type, the extent of activity or structural safety.

See termite treatment.

Rats or mice

  • Do not catch, approach or handle a rodent, droppings or an unfamiliar trap.
  • Where safe, show the sighting, gnaw marks, possible entry gaps or the route travelled.
  • Location, time, estimated number and how often it happens.
  • Whether the area is shared or public, so we can check who controls it before arranging work.

See rodent control.

Mosquitoes

  • Where practical, the activity and a wider view of each affected area.
  • When and how often it happens.
  • Standing water or water-holding spots, only if safe to photograph.
  • A photo of adult mosquitoes may not reveal the breeding source or species. For shared or public areas, we first check authority and access.

See mosquito control.

Flies

  • A close-up or short video where practical, and a wider view of where flies gather.
  • Drains, waste areas, damp areas, windows or food zones, only when relevant and safe to show.
  • When activity is strongest and whether it is limited to one area.
  • A photo may not confirm the source.

Private, shared and public areas

Tell us whether the activity is inside your home, in a privately controlled outdoor area, in condominium or HDB common property, or on public land. Before any treatment outside an area you control, KleanSG must confirm the responsible property manager, owner or authority, plus permission and access. Who authorises, pays for and receives the report varies by site.

What happens after you message us

  1. We review the address, affected areas, activity details and any safe photos or video.
  2. We ask the follow-up questions needed to plan access and confirm authority for the area.
  3. We check your preferred timing against technician availability and explain any preparation known at that stage. Urgent, after-hours and public-holiday requests may be considered, but timing is not guaranteed.
  4. The technician verifies the signs, activity, access and site conditions on site.
  5. If the findings, access, preparation, agreed scope and your authority allow, treatment may start on the first visit. A separate inspection appointment is not automatically needed.
  6. Final scope, quotation and follow-up depend on what is found and the agreed service. A service report is provided for completed work.

Preparation and re-entry instructions for children, pets and aquariums depend on the treatment and the area, so follow the instructions given for your appointment. Photos do not guarantee identification, a fixed price, a particular method, a visit count or elimination. We explain the job-specific scope before you agree to the work.
